Inspector's Background and Certifications

Shannon is the only full time inspector for Rainbow Home Inspections and doesn't have any ties to contractors, mortgage lenders, or real estate agents or brokers, because that would be a conflict of interest and violation of the code of ethics set forth in the American Society of Home Inspectors standards.

While growing up in north Alabama Shannon assisted his grandfather who had a small contracting business that built custom homes. Due to the quality of the construction many of these homes are still structurally sound today.

Shannon spent 13 1/2 years with Lamont Doherty Geological Observatory of Columbia University as a technician and research engineer building structures for seismic sites in 54 countries around the world. During the last three years with Lamont, construction took place in Alaska, Chiang Mai Thailand, Charter Towers Australia, Elat Israel, Kongsberg Norway, and New York State.

Shannon has successfully completed the following certification programs.

Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI) One and Two Family Dwelling #2706 whose primary mission since 1940 has been to develop and maintain a set of model building codes for use by local jurisdictions.
Exterior Design Institute (EDI)#GA33 which is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of training and certifying third party Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS) inspectors and moisture analysts to promote quality control with the EIFS industry.
Council of American Building Officials (CABO) #2706 encompasses the following groups BOCA (Building Officials Code Administration), ICBO (International Conference of Building Officials), and SBCCI (Southern Building Code Congress International) all these groups will be recognized in future as ICC (International Code Council) which is dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive and coordinated national model construction codes.
American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) #204002 is the oldest and most recognized organization for home inspectors. Shannon is a member of both the National and South Eastern Chapter and also is the State of Georgia ASHI 2001 membership chairman.
Shannon regularly participates in seminars and educational programs, and averages over 60 continuing education hours of training each year.
